Raul Alejandro Ruiz Ruiz Ocasio, born January 10, 1993 is a Puerto Rican singer/songwriter. Referred to as the "King of the New Reggaeton",[2][3he is part of "the younger generation" of Puerto Rican urban musicians. His debut album Afrodisiaco was released in November of 2020. His second studio album Vice Versa was released in June 2021, included the lead single "Todo de Ti". He has received two Latin Grammy Awards from twelve nominations. Raul Alejandro Ocasio-Ruiz was born on January 10, 1993, in San Juan, Puerto Rico and was raised in Canovanas and Carolina. His father Raul Ocasio Ruiz was a guitarist , and his mother Maria Nelly Ruiz was his vocalist backing. They introduced him to the music of Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley. [6] For many years, Alejandro and his father resided in the mainland United States, mainly Miami and New York City, where he was influenced by the R&B and dancehall genres. 7] 8 Alejandro and his fellow Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA are childhood buddies; they each attended the same school and had classes together. When they were children, Alejandro competed in school talent shows since he has an interest in dancing. After finishing high school, Alejandro began his studies at the University of Puerto Rico. He played soccer from the age of six to twenty-five. However, he decided to stop playing because he couldn't perform at the level he wanted to. At the age of 20, the injury he sustained. He eventually moved to Orlando in hopes of being scouted by the Premier Development League (PDL). Rauw Alejandro is known for his Latin R&B, Latin Reggaeton and rhythmic pop music. Billboard said that his music has "set him apart" from the growing band of Reggaetones who are influenced by pop. Presley and Jackson have influenced him from the beginning then and then Ricky Martin, Daddy Yankee and Chris Brown. He also cites Ciara as a musician who influenced him.
